Local Trade Union Branches Work

Every member of the Finnish Seamen’s Union belongs to his/her own local trade union branch. The local trade union branches gather together employees in its own area or area of operation. There are a total of 11 local trade union branches.

The national trade union branches are; the harbour branch, matkailu- ja huolinta-ala, the Ship’s entertainment professionals and Fairway Services local trade union branch. Members from all over the country belong to the national trade union branch.

The local trade union branches organise many types of activities from statutory meetings to trips and other leisure-time and recreation activities. Every member can through his/her own local trade union branch influence the union’s operations and the forming of objectives. The local trade union branches offer support to their members and organise education.

You can familiarise yourself with the operations of your own local trade union branch more closely by accessing the branch’s own home pages. If you do not know your own local trade union branch, you can check its number from your membership card or phone the membership register of the Finnish Seamen’s Union.
