Collective bargaining

The most important task of the Finnish Seamen’s Union is the promoting of interests and the defending of the rights of its members. The Finnish Seamen’s Union negotiates and concludes collective bargaining agreements, which concern their members and also monitors that these agreements are being complied with.

The collective bargaining agreements’ department of the Finnish Seamen’s Union deals with disputes and interpretation of matters connected with the compliance of the member’s employment relationship and the collective bargaining agreements.

A collective bargaining agreement

is an agreement between the Finnish Seamen’s Union and the employer’s confederation or an individual employer concerning the terms and conditions which are complied with in employment contracts in the sector in question.
